Maps Overview

Throughout Lewis and Clark's expedition, they have communicated their findings through mapping out areas that they have discovered. By creating maps it allows for a new perspective to be developed on trails in the land as well as bodies of water, natural resources, different environments, and so on. It was a main method of communication as that is the sole purpose of their expedition. By returning to the states it enabled the people in the colonies to realize where the land led as well as paths to migrate west to start a new life. Maps provided a prominent amount of information to fuel hope for a navigable route throughout North America. The people at home had interpreted their maps as a way to understand the geographical portion of their findings. Continuing on maps allowed for misconceptions to be debunked and revealed accurate depictions of geographic characteristics in the newly acquired land. Such usage of maps allowed for communication of new findings back to the colonies enabling for navigable routes through the land as well as geographic features from Lewis and Clark's findings.
